Cause & Effect: Miscommunication

            Communication is indispensable in every part of life. As human beings, communication is our only way to interact with other people. We can’t live without it. Yet, we see situations such as someone is crying, fighting, and feeling hurt because of misunderstanding with a family, friend, and stranger. The reason behind is miscommunication. Miscommunication is the total cessation of interaction. It can break a good relationship. Unfortunately, it can end up going to war against each other.

            There are certain barriers of communication usually occurs when interacting with other people. It is a must to know about the main reasons to miscommunication for us to obtain an effective communication.

            Miscommunication is caused by imparting the message ambiguously. A misunderstanding may happen when words contradict actions. For instance, a person may say he is humble but then brags a lot. It is important that what is shown corresponds with what is said. If not, miscommunication will occur.

            Since the use of language and the choice of words to convey a message were not carefully chosen, miscommunication will take place. Let say, the way you deliver could not point what you really mean. Therefore, you must be careful in putting down and delivering the message.

            Miscommunication is due to lack of awareness about appropriateness or setting. One must be aware of the event because if you failed to observe the appropriateness or setting it will look as if you are illiterate or unlearned.

            Messages always have a purpose. There is an intention when people interacts with others. Sometimes, what we wanted to say may not intend the actual result. There may be instances like a speaker is trying to deliver a serious message but the listeners take it as a joke. The intended meaning of the message is unclear to the listeners. As a result, miscommunication occurs when the intention is imprecise.

            Communication is essential part of our living. Indeed, the proper way of communication is mandatory to achieve effective communication and to avoid miscommunication.
